Paper Industry Museum of Diosgyor Papermill, Miskolc
The Paper Industry Museum was established in 1982 from the historical artifacts of the Diosgyor Papermill. The goal of the founders was to attract visitors with interesting paper production that has rich traditions in Miskolc.
Museum's collection
Visitors of the museum can observe:
- information stands;
- documents and banknotes;
- ancient devices for making paper, which show the process of its manual and subsequent mechanical production.
On the first floor there is a workshop arranged according to the samples of paper factories of the 18th century. Here you can see how paper was made in the past.
At the top floor samples made at the factory in its entire history are exhibited. Papers with watermarks that have been produced in the factory over the past decades are also here. Part of the exhibition is devoted to banknotes issued since 1920.
If you want to come here on tour with a group, you must first call the museum administration.
How to get there
The paper industry museum is located not far from the Diosgyor castle. You can get here by tram No. 1 from Tiszai Railway Station.
Opening hours:on weekdays the museum is open from 10:00 to 14:00; on the first Saturday of each month the institution works from 10:00 to 14:00, the next Monday after that it is the day off.
