Tournament Field, Miskolc

The Tournament Field and the fairground area of ​​the Diosgyor castle is waiting for the spectators, who want to feel adrenaline of real knight battles. After considerable destruction, inflicted in the 19th century by the order of the Habsburg dynasty, the entire territory near the castle was finally reconstructed.

What can you see at the Tournament Field

You can get to the square through the fairground, that as in the Middle Ages, is a place for trade. In the Middle Ages, the fairground allowed the exchange of values, the transfer of knowledge, exchange of goods, and this opportunity is still being provided. Perfectly harmonizing with the environment, outdoor furniture and subdued lighting, reminiscent of torchlight, complement the overall atmosphere.

After the fair you can look at the knight tournaments. They are held on the square, which is protected from three sides and is open in the direction of the Diosgyor Fortress. The auditorium is designed for 3000 people, but with the help of mobile stands the opportunity to enjoy various cultural programs can be additionally provided for another 500 people. On the square there is also a mobile stage, the background of which forms a fortress.

Those who wish to visit knightly battles should better find information about the date in advance. In addition, various competitions are held on the square, for example, horse riding competitions.

How to get there

Diosgyor Castle and, respectively, the Tournament Field are located on the western outskirts of the city, about 8 kilometers from the center. You can get here by tram No. 1 or by bus No. 1. Exit near the Upper Majláth, then turn left following the signs.

During competitions or tournaments, there is the entrance fee. On a single ticket you can get to the castle and the arena. Tickets are sold in a small room in front of the entrance to the fortress.
