Zichy Palace, Budapest
Zichy Castle (Zichy-kastély) is located in the oldest part of Budapest – Óbuda. The Baroque building was commissioned by Count Miklós Zichy. The design of the castle was created by the famous architect named Jäger János Henrik. Although the whole construction was finished 1757, the main building was completed in 1752. The palace was decorated with fancy frescos, and the interior décor amazed visitors with its beauty and diversity. However, the building was partially destroyed and abandoned after World War II. Major restoration work was finished in 1974 by the government, and after that, the building was turned into a cultural center.
