Viewpoint at Balatongyörök, Balaton
The observation deck in Balatongyör offers a magnificent view of the Balaton. Lush green lawns, fragrant pine forest, cozy benches which are so comfortable to sit on and admire the endless azure of Balaton! This is a great place to relax and take in the scenery. Moreover, there are extinct volcanoes of Balaton rising up on the opposite shore!
Not far from the observation deck there are stairs that lead to the Roman water spring. It has been used for healing and treatment since ancient times. You can drink this healing water.

You can go up on the tower for the thrill and beautiful view. An interesting tourist attraction is located near the observation deck. The tower was built in 1972 and is 221 meters high. In 2013, it was completely redesigned. From here, an even more spectacular panorama of lush forests and lake waters is available for you to enjoy.
How to get
It’s convenient to visit the place if you are staying at Keszthely, Balatongyörökön or going to see Szigliget Castle.
- By car. The deck is located on highway 71 that runs along the coast of Balaton. The coordinates of the observation platform 46.769820, 17.361195.
- If you travel by public transport from nearby villages, you should get off at the Balatongyörök Szépkilátó stop. You are almost there: the deck is 200 meters away.
- If you are relaxing in Balatongyörökön, buses № 9624, 9616 travel from the central beach to the Becehegy stop.
- A walk from the centre to the observation deck will take about half an hour.
