Bishop's Palace
Bishop`s Palace is located in one of the most beautiful cities in Hungary - Pécs. The palace was built in 1770. The history of the palace dates back to the Middle Ages. Back in 1009 by King István bishopric was founded in the city of Pecs and built the cathedral, which was destroyed by fire and rebuilt later.
Throughout its existence, Bishop`s Palace was rebuilt several times. After the occupation of the Turkish invaders, he was virtually destroyed. However, in the years 1751-1770 Hungarian architect George Klimo has been made large-scale reconstruction, resulting in the Episcopal Palace acquired Baroque and Renaissance shape.
Today Bishop`s Palace is a museum. Here there are religious relics and antique furniture and Flemish tapestries of Maria Theresa, as well as a collection of tubes and books on smoking.
