Basilica of St. Adalbert, Esztergom Basilica
Basilica of St. Adalbert is considered the main Catholic church in Hungary. The basilica was built in Esztergom in the 19th century on the site of the ancient church of St. Adalbert and consecrated in honor of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Since then, it has a double name. This unique building, the height of over 1,100 meters, is situated on the bank of the Danube River. The main church is considered a gem of its huge dome, where undeveloped large observation deck.
The temple is built in the shape of a cross, made in the neo-classical architectural style. The interior of the basilica is replete with ancient frescoes, statues, colorful mosaics and marble pillars.
