Zoo, Miskolc

Zoo in Miskolc is very popular and rich in fauna. It is one of the oldest zoos in Europe. Its first predecessor was based on the same site in the distant 1355. The zoo, which can be visited today, was opened in 1983 to shelter the representatives of the Bükk Mountains. Animals live in a natural habitat. This very picturesque park is decorated not only because of its inhabitants, but also with beautiful nature, monuments and statues of famous zoologists. The Miskolc Zoo is situated near the Bükk National Park.

Residents of the zoo

The huge area of ​​the zoo is inhabited by representatives of Hungarian domestic and wild animals, as well as many exotic animals. In total there are about 120 species. Here you can see someone extraordinary from all the continents. Among the inhabitants of the park there are: tigers, leopards, lynxes, wolves, monkeys, camels, porcupines, kangaroos, wild cats, buffaloes, brown bears and the public favorites – meerkats.

According to the previously announced schedule of feeding, everyone can take part in this process. Children enjoy this process the most.

How to get there

To get to the zoo in Miskolc, you can take buses № 1, 5 and 15 to the Majális-park stop, after this you will have to walk for about 15 minutes. You can take the special ZOO bus to Vadaspark stop. The bus operates from the middle of April, you need to book a place at least half an hour in advance. Here is the phone number: + 36- 46 / 514-949.

Opening hours of the Zoo: from March 15 to October 4, the Miskolc Zoo is open from 09:00 to 19:00, from 5 October to 14 March – until 17:00. The admission ticket costs 1200 forints. Children from 3 to 18 and people of retirement age – 900 forints. If you have a Miskolc Pass card, you can visit the zoo for free.
